About the Speaker: Taiwo currently serves as Assistant City Manager and Director of Planning, Design and Development with the City of Charlotte. The Department is working along multiple fronts: a recently released draft of a 20-year comprehensive plan (Charlotte Future 2040) expected to be adopted by the City Council in spring 2021; the first Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) for the City which will update and consolidate existing land development regulations; a Tree Canopy Action Plan which will reframe policies around the city's tree canopy objectives and preservation. Taiwo is also the Mayor's staff liaison on the Charlotte Moves Task Force, a 25-member group chaired by former Mayor Harvey Gantt and charged with developing a funding strategy for implementing a Transformational Mobility Network for Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. Taiwo's vision is for an equitable, livable, sustainable and inclusive Charlotte.
