About Us

AIA Charlotte is the largest section of AIA North Carolina and in itself is one the largest components of the American Institute of Architects.

AIA Charlotte and its 12-county Charlotte Regional component exist to serve the needs of its members and to provide leadership and service to the public at large for a range of issues affecting the built environment. The members of AIA Charlotte have available a range of continuing education, volunteer and other professional opportunities.

Participation within the organization is open at many levels, including membership for registered professionals, associate members, and sponsorship opportunities for the many allied suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers to the profession.

Our Mission

AIA Charlotte empowers architects as transformative leaders shaping our communities.

AIA Charlotte has a rich history of involvement in community design and social issues. The 12 county group utilizes a volunteer committee structure to focus on areas of concern for our region, including sustainable (or "green") design practices, community outreach, design education and the development of emerging professionals. In providing these opportunities for involvement, the presentation of a diverse and dedicated AIA Charlotte emphasizes the role of architects as advocates for a stronger community.
