Situated behind an academic quad on a forested site, Orchard Hall creates an entrance to a new

residential neighborhood harmonious with nature. Its form is derived from the existing south

facing topography and the intersection of two new public pathways. By anchoring itself to the

angled topography, the building also responds to the sun. The building’s form is composed of a

bent bar and a straight bar that hold back the earth and create a threshold between the

academic campus and the forested residential neighborhood.
