COMMITTEE CALL FOR INTEREST
- Citizen Architect Committee--Two year term. Will spearhead local participation in AIA Legislative Day (June/July), and sponsor a candidate meet and greet/ power breakfast in October. Will also establish a local Citizen Architect Directory. Contact Melanie Reddrick with interest
- Climate Action Committee--Two year term. Will develop two Climate-related programs for AIA Charlotte members, targeted for April and September, 2020. In collaboration with AIA NC, Clean Air Carolinas, Sustain Charlotte, USGBC, and others. Contact Melanie Reddrick with interest
- AIA Scholarship Committee--Two year term. Will work to develop criteria and fundraise for a variety of AIA Scholarships for students interested in pursuing a career in architecture, or currently enrolled in Architectural programs. Looking for 3-5 more volunteers. Contact Melanie Reddrick with interest
- Outreach Education Committee will focus on planning and the implementation of existing programs such as CMS K-12 Architecture in the Classroom, Discovery Place and Hip-Hop Architecture Camp collaborations. This committee will also evaluate other community needs, and can establish new programs and resources to promote awareness of our profession, highlighting the importance of critical, comprehensive design thinking. Firm billings decline in December
AIA's Architecture Billings Index is a recognized leading indicator for nonresidential construction and is available to AIA members for free. December's index shows that business conditions at architecture firms backslid, ending the year on a disappointing note. However, firms remain optimistic about 2021. Read more
