A Lecture with William Dodge

Thursday, June 30
6:00 - 8:00
NoDa Brewing Co.

Artist and Designer William H. Dodge (Founder and Design Principal of p-u-b-l-i-c and co-Founder of a gang of three) fiercely believes that the convergence of art and architecture is critical for both the survival of the architecture profession as well as our environment overall. Throughout his career he has explored these opportunities in a variety of scales across multiple disciplines and project types (architecture, art, manufacturing and multidisciplinary design). This lecture will discuss strategies and examples from within his practice(s) while also looking more broadly at our profession's ability to enhance our respective communities through a variety of means and methods, all resulting in enhanced opportunities to benefit the overall health of the population, promote access and equity, and improve the physical, mental, financial and ecological resiliency of our built environment in general.

[Image]Hire Ukrainian Designers is an initiative led by a team of USA-based architects who have created pathways to help Ukrainian design professionals - in the fields of architecture, urbanism, landscape architecture, and visualization - find work opportunities with US firms.

This work can provide a critical and urgent lifeline for those whose livelihood has been jeopardized by war. The project is based on the success of a grassroots initiative organized by the Houston-based landscape firm SWA Group, whose team has successfully matched over 40+ Ukrainian design professionals with US-based design firms since March.
