Legislative Wednesday, the initiative in opposition to the Interior Design Licensing bill H858, is underway.

Orientation will be provided from 10:00am to 10:45am at CfAD with teams formed to begin canvassing legislators at or before 11:15am.  Lunch sandwiches will be provided at CfAD at 2:00pm following start of the legislative sessions in the House and Senate.

If you are planning to go, please plan to schedule appointments with your personal legislator first, by calling their Raleigh office ahead of time. Although drop ins also work. You can get information for your legislator at ncleg.gov. Follow the link to"District Representation" if you do not know your legislator, or go to "Members" if you do.

At the orientation, members will be educated on the key points of our concern for the Interior Design License bill. Understanding that legislators will only have limited time to speak with us, making our point and moving on will be the mission of the day.

Please plan to attend one of these important Wednesday sessions between now and the end of June. AIA North Carolina is 2200 members strong. Let's make our voices heard! We'd like to stop this bill while it is in the House. But we need as many of our members as can attend to make this happen. And it will not happen without you.

Lastly, we regrettably accepted the resignation of David Murray, AIA from the Legislative Liaison position, representing AIANC Advocacy to the Charlotte Section. David has assisted in organizing our events in the past and will be missed. For the time being, Charlotte members please send all communications tome Richard.Alsop@arcreview.org for Legislative Wednesday events.

If you are planning to attend, please contact your section Liaison as follows (a heads up will help us plan better):

Asheville: Tripp Anderson: gaa@aitonanderson.com
Winston Salem: Micah Martin: mmartin@lambertai.com
Greensboro: Shermin Ata: sherminata@bellsouth.net
Triangle: Jim Compton: jimc@clinedesignassoc.com
Eastern: Hunt McKinnon: mckinnonw@ecu.edu
Wilmington: Charles Boney: charlesboneyls3p.com

Thank you,

Richard Alsop, AIA
AIANC Director of Advocacy
Richard.Alsop@arcreview.org (please bcc me on any letters you send to your legislators)
