This free event is the inaugural gathering of the Carolina Corbels, a group of emerging architects and designers.  Alex's presentation will be followed by a measured drawing demonstration by Steven Chrisman.  There will be  a unique opportunity to sketch elements of this historic building nearing completion of its renovation, with Robert A.M. Stern as a partner on the project.  The afternoon ends with  a gallery walk of the finished sketches and a happy hour.

LESSONS LEARNED WITH ALEX ANCONA

Recipient of the  the prestigious Kyle Danley Taylor Memorial Scholarship for Architectural Studies
A graduate of UNC Charlotte with a degree in architecture, Alexander is currently working as an intern architect at @pursleydixon in Charlotte.  Having grown up in Connecticut and Rhode Island, where he was first introduced to Colonial architecture, Alexander was further inspired to pursue a career in architecture after a school trip to Colonial Williamsburg. As the scholarship recipient, Alexander will share insights from his studies of classical American architecture and the Southern vernacular during an itinerary of study that included visits to Drayton Hall, Gunston Hall, and Oak Alley.
