This position in the Asset and Facility Management service of the Mecklenburg County Business Support Services Agency is responsible for leading the Design & Construction Project Management Division, including management of facilities master planning, space utilization, and design & construction project management for County and Library facilities. The position is responsible for strategic planning, operational processes, policies & procedures, and directs the daily operations of other licensed design professionals. The position is accountable for an average annual expenditure of approximately $50 million for the design and construction of justice facilities, government facilities, libraries, parks, and historic landmarks.
The position oversees the preparation of design/construction budget estimates for the County’s Capital Improvement Program, selection and hiring of architectural/engineering design consultants, project design & construction document phases, bidding of construction contracts, and management of the construction phase of building projects. The position also oversees the preparation of “in-house” design studies for small projects. Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field is required.
The desired profile is for an NC licensed architect with a minimum of 10 years experience after licensure and three to five years of related management experience (i.e., firm principal, studio head, team leader, etc.). Design ability and teamwork skills are important qualifications. Position requires a valid NC or SC driver's license.
