Mechanical Engineer that will be part of a multi-disciplinary team.  This position will have primary responsibility for systems design and production of construction documents for a diverse range of projects.  Responsibilities will include:


  • Mechanical design of chilled and hot water plants, building piping and air-handling systems as well as associated details, control schemes and to include mark-ups as well as self-performed production utilizing CAD/BIM as needed.
  • Working with Owners and project managers to define project goals, budgets and priorities.
  • Coordination with other trades, outside consultants, code officials and contractors.
  • Load calculations, energy models, Life Cycle Analysis using Trane Trace 700 and Excel.
  • Developing basis of design documents to review with Owners and estimators.
  • Generating and updating specifications for use on projects.
  • Performing construction administration activities as needed.

Job Requirements:

  •  Minimum 10 years of experience in the design of mechanical/HVAC systems. Experience in plumbing and fire protection systems design is a plus.
  • Registered Professional Engineer who is, or is able to be, registered in NC and SC.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or associated field.
  • Experience in all facets of chilled and hot water plant design, building automation controls, rooftop systems, VAV systems, refrigerant based system design for a variety of large project types.
  • Current REVIT and AutoCAD experience required.
  • A working knowledge of ASHRAE 90.1-2007/2010, LEED and/or Green Globes.
  • Experience in using Trane Trace 700 for load calculation and energy modeling preferred.
  • Experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Leadership through ambitious project examples, industry recognition, speaking and/or writing engagements a plus.
