Workforce
Committees under this advisory group will be overseen by a member of the executive committee. It will be the responsibility of this member of the executive committee to receive reports from the chairs of the committees and share this information with the AIA Charlotte Board of Directors. Mentorship Committee

The AIA Charlotte/UNC Charlotte School of Architecture Mentorship Exchange seeks to provide a forum and a means by which the emerging professional within the field of architecture can engage their peers, other practitioners and a wealth of resources in a successful pursuit of knowledge and experience that fosters both personal and professional growth and discovery of that individual.

CANstruction
Combines the competitive spirit of a design/build competition with a unique way to help feed hungry people. Competing teams, led by architects, showcase their talents by designing sculptures made entirely out of canned foods. At the close of the exhibitions all of the food used in the structure is donated to local food banks for distribution to pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, the elderly and day care centers.

Citizen Architect
Honors citizens serving in appointed or elected positions.


Government Affairs
Monitor, evaluate and advocate proposed local government actions that may affect the practice of architecture. Plan government affairs programs, such as Legislative Day, and conduct events that engage elected officials and political leaders.

Special Events

Design Awards
Assemble and convene jury for Design Awards program. Coordinate presentation of awards. Develop a schedule of exhibition of boards around the city during the year.


Service Awards
Service awards are offered annually, with the Past President (Chair) presenting nominations to the entire Board of Directors for voting and approval.  

 

Golf Tournament
A special events committee formed to organize and execute the Joe Mallamo Memorial Golf Tournament, which raises money towards a UNC Charlotte School of Architecture.
